Leah Anthony
Assistant Rehearsal Director
Leah began her formal dance training at Avondale Dance Center in Canton, Ohio at the age of ten under the instruction of Jeanne Morehart, formerly a dancer for the Cleveland Ballet. Leah pursued dance at The University of Akron, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with a Business Cognate in 2015. While attending UA, Leah choreographed her own pieces that she set to the stage and danced in various shows, such as Choreographer's Workshop, Spring Into Dance, and The University of Akron Dance Company performances. In her sophomore year, Leah was chosen for STREB Action Company's Akron project, which she performed later that year in Akron and New York City. Leah was also chosen to dance in a group piece for guest choreographer, Chloe Felesina, dancer for Ballet X. During and after her time at UA, Leah helped build a tap program at Briana's Elite Dance in Hartville, Ohio and taught technique, jazz, contemporary, and tap at J Morehart Dance Company in Canton, Ohio. Leah moved to Columbus in 2017 and is a founding member of Cultivate Dance Project. She is the Assistant Rehearsal Director and has performed with the company in their own showcases at Columbus Dance Theater, as well as Cleveland Dance Festival, Dancing in Summer: The Festival, City Dance Showcase, New Albany Dance Festival, Ten Tiny Dances, Columbus Dance Alliance’s Works #2, Columbus Arts Festival, and Save the Arts Showcase. Leah also choreographed pieces for Pillow Forts and Wild Geese, two shows curated by Impermanent Gallery. Leah taught youth and adult classes at Artisan Dance Studio in Columbus for three years before returning to Northeast Ohio in 2023. Leah has since moved back to Columbus and works at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She has every intention to continue teaching, choreographing, and dancing for as long as she can. Much of Leah’s inspiration for her teaching methods and her choreographic works stems from her own lived experiences and the experiences she has with others.
